I just read in New York magazine “authors who only update their blogs every couple of weeks” are “highbrow and despicable.” Oy. I wasn’t planning to write all that often but I don’t want to be despicable so here is a fear-based entry (2 out of 3 now…what does that say…). I would take highbrow, though.
Publisher’s Weekly has now weighed in with its review, a positive one whose thesis states that “This rags-to-riches story, about growing up poor and eventually reaching Harvard has bite and pathos.” I have to say I am pretty happy. But what makes me even happier is that my partner Jeff, a notorious bookophobe, is actually almost through the book and likes it. Like the Kirkus reviewers, he likes the adult stuff better than the childhood, which once again surprises me, but the reader – like the customer —is always right.
